Reiki is a form of “energy” healing begun in Japan by Usui Mikao. In the western world, Reiki is gaining recognition as an adjunct therapy to traditional medicine as well as a form of stress reduction and relaxation. Based on the belief that all things have a connection to a life force energy, Reiki is administered by “laying on hands” by a practitioner who has received the Reiki “attunements” during their training from a Reiki master teacher. A typical session lasts approximately 45 minutes, but is dependent on what the practitioner intuits is needed.
The word Reiki is made of two words; Rei, which means “God’s Wisdom” and Ki (or Chi) which means “life force.” Together they describe the spiritually guided life force energy of Reiki. Every person experiences Reiki differently. Most commonly, people describe a deep relaxation and warmth, or glowing feeling. Other people have described feeling like they are floating. As a level II Reiki practitioner, Tim is available for Reiki sessions by appointment. He hopes to become a Reiki master in the near future.
